Liam's now 4 months old, lucky guy. We're over halfway to the 6 month mark & all that it brings!
Tuesday is his 4 month pediatrician appointment. We should get a height, weight, and head measurement, plus he's due for another round of the same vaccinations he got before. I'm not sure what this visit will hold other than that. I'm not planning anything for the end of the week, since he was grumpy & not feeling hot for a few days after the last visit. Poor kid.
He seems to have started thinking that coughing is some sort of method of communication. He includes these very fake sounding coughs in with his squeals, coos, and other sounds that he makes when he's "talking". Not sure where he got this from... he does like to smile & talk while he's eating, which often ends up in a coughing fit, but how he got from the real coughing he does to this fake coughing/communication, I don't know.
He's able to sit unassisted for short periods of time now. I have to have hands on either side, but once he's balanced, he can hold the position for maybe 10-15 seconds before he starts going forward, backward, or over to one side. He's also able to keep his head in line with his body when I pick him up, rather than having to have my supporting hand under his neck to keep his head from dropping back.
He's started this new, very annoying habit of flattening his body suddenly when sitting. The effect is that he starts sliding from where ever he's at, whether it be in the tub, in his swing, or on a lap. He thinks this is tremendously funny, but even if you have a good hand on him, sometimes its hard to keep him in place (especially when he's wet & slippery!).
I've concluded that baby clothing sizes are just not anything that I should or could attempt to understand. One company's 3-6 month size is another's 12 month size, and we have stuff that he shouldn't even fit in for a while that's already too small for him. Can't the companies figure this out? I mean, I know when I go to the store & try on my size pants, they're going to fit. They may be a little tight here or there, but they do fit me. I'm just eyeballing baby clothes right now, because checking tags is more confusion than help.
I'm excited that autumn is here for all the great hand knits that he has. I'll try to take some pictures to post, but suffice to say, he's going to be the best dressed kid around for the entire season. There's some very cute stuff in his drawers!
