We tried Liam on solids this week, too. They recommended sitting him in his chair for a few days first, to get him used to sitting up, but he loved sitting in it so much, we just jumped right in on the second day.
The sitting went a lot better than the feeding. He's not so fond of bibs.
He's also not so fond of eating with a spoon. We kept at it a few nights until he started getting fussy & angry within just the first couple spoonfuls or so, and then we decided to suspend the solids experiment for another week. No point in making it a battle when he's at pretty much the earliest time that we could start him on solids anyway, we figured.
In other news, he's sort of figured out rolling over back to belly. We knew he was getting it because he was suddenly on his belly almost every night when he would cry for his feeding, but he was still acting like he was struggling to try & do it during his playtimes in the day. Yesterday morning, we brought him to our bed when he woke up, and he was goofing off... he rolled quickly and easily from his back to his belly and right back to his back again. I don't know if he's playing during the day or what, but he definitely knows how to do it.
Teething seems to be kicking into high gear. He's fussy almost every feeding now, sucking down milk quickly and then acting like he wants more but just can't suck. The drool machine is in full swing, and he's started getting chapped marks on his cheeks and chin from the constant moisture. We're trying to be really diligent about wiping his face often, so hopefully those will get better soon. He doesn't like any of the teething rings/toys, so his poor fingers are getting quite a chewing. Hopefully he'll cut a tooth soon... just from where he's applying the pressure, I'm guessing it'll be the bottom left one that comes in first.
