Liam's first party was a great time for him, despite the rain that kept us inside. Grandpa & Grandma W stayed with us Friday through Monday, and Grandpa & Grandma P, Aunt Kate & Uncle Andy, and Uncle George & Aunt Kat came over for the celebration. Liam started saying "Wow!" (or "wow-wow!" for the really good stuff!) the day before the party, so we got a good idea of just how excited he was about the cake and his gifts! He got cake EVERYWHERE! Well, more to the point, he got icing everywhere. Max, Kate and Andy's dog, took care of cleaning one of his hands, and Kate and Kat got the rest with a washcloth. That poor washcloth...! Opening gifts took quite some time... I ended up unwrapping and letting him explore from there. He received books, his name mobile from Grandpa P, dump trucks and trains, a toy farm, an outfit, a kiddie pool, and a "wind spinner" fire engine for outside. It was an exciting afternoon and when everyone left (except for Grandma and Grandpa W, of course), he crashed hard.
The last couple days, we've been enjoying the kiddie pool with the heat going on. I set it up on the back deck and filled it during his morning nap a few days ago. He's been having a lot of fun, mostly pouring water from a cup either back into the pool or onto the deck. He did take an unscheduled swim while Dad was cooking dinner on the deck a couple nights ago, but Dad dished him out quickly and he barely cried. Go, Dad the Rescue Lifeguard!
Unfortunately my phone-computer connection is acting up again, so I haven't been able to get pictures off my phone to add to this post - Sorry!
Anyway, happy Father's Day to Daddy, the Grandpas, and all you dads and dads-to-be (you know who you are, Uncle George!) out there!
